Good wavemaker/how many?

Hello, i'm on the process of building a 75g and i'm trying to figure out how many wavmakers i need and which ones are good.i know vortech is one of the best but the price tag is something I would like to spend on something else. Are jebao good? Any specific model i need, i'm mostly gonna be making a soft coral reef with mayyyybe one or 2 sps. Thanks

I have a jebao pp8, just bought another. They have a controller and are about 50 bucks. So I will have 2 in my 75, I think it's a good setup

Agreed, I have been using Jebao pumps and wave makers for years without issue. I am currently using 2 of the OW series in my tank. I would get 2 OW-25 for a 75 gallon tank. The beauty of a controllable pump is that you can run it at lower speeds and prolong the life of it.

A lot of people will tell you that Jebao is junk and you will spend more money in the long run to replace them. It is true that they will probably need to be replaced, but IME, it is not true that you will save money by buying Vortec. Just look at how many people have had to replace either a wet side or a dry side on the Vortec pumps. Guess how much they cost... More than replacing Jebao's.

Jebao pumps are great at what they do, and that is to move water.

Another vote for Jebao here..
Just don't get one of the old RW or WP series as they were crap (first generation stuff)..
PP/SW/OW series are just fine..

In general you want powerheads in a tank to be equal to be a minimum of 30x display tank size in GPH
Some run 50-75x or more in high flow tanks.. I target ~50x personally

So a 100G tank would want the sum of the powerheads to be 3000GPH. (to 5000gph)
Multiples are better than a single pump.

I'd want at least 2 in a 75g tank (I have 2 x Jebao PP8 in my 80G but would buy the newer SW or OW series now if those needed to be replaced)

I have in my 80 cube, 2 mp10's and 2 jebao PP8's.

I run my mp10's on 70% reef crest, and my jebao's are programmed through Apex to fire off randomly in short 4 second bursts, then off for 15 seconds at 80%.

I use the Vortech, i really love the small in tank footprint, the multitude of functions, and keeping some electronics out of the tank.

You are going to get different opinions on this topic. It really depends on what you like and what fits your budget. I have went through different brands and found that the Ecotech fits the build for my tank. IMO, it's trial and error. How many depends on how your tank is setup and eliminating dead spots.

Just hooked up the other jebao last night. One in each bottom corner. Setup is working well for my 75, especially for the price
