changing skimmer, opinions welcome
hello there everyone, I've bought a 75g tank couple weeks ago and I'm waiting to move to my new apartment to start putting everything together, on the meantime I've been changing things here and there, and the protein skimmer is one of those, does anyone has any experience with the bubble magus or the sca skimmers? i was looking at either bm curve 5 or 7 and the sca 302...also looking at other possibilities. budget is like 250$. thanks for any input.

For legit to add, was also looking at the simplicity 240, looks like a nice skimmer.

I am VERY happy with my bubble magus curve 5... Fantastic skimmer for the price..
I'm using it on an 80G tank.. I set it to fill the cup about every 2 weeks or so now.. I really try not to "over skim" as the tank seems to do better when I'm not pulling out too much.

Do you think the curve 5 is big enough? I plan on stocking the tank medium to heavy(within reasonable tank size of course)

If I was one that felt skimmers are very beneficial and I was planning on a heavily stocked mostly fish tank I might go with the curve 7... But I think that overskimming in a tank with corals is not really a good thing and would say the 5 is totally fine for that..

Same here. Got Curve 5 on my 75 gallon tank. This thing runs great, quiet and appropriately priced.

what is your old skimmer?
if it works, there's probably no need to get a new one other than because you want a new one, which is a perfectly valid reason. |

IMO, the skimmer pump is a heart of the skimmer. I will choose the best skimmer pump first then I pick the skimmer body second.
I love Bubble Blaster pump, it make for skimmer. |

Thanks for the input, I'm really leaning towards the simplicity, really haven't seen a bad review on it and it's at a good price too.
