Pipe Coral "Maintenance"

I have a colony of pipe corals that has died back. I believe it was because I placed it in too much current. I have moved it and will watch to see how it responds.

If it responds favorably to it new location, I am wondering if I should cut back some of the abandoned pipes to make room for new growth???
