Bugs bugging my nems
Hey folks,
I posted a few days digo a question on my degrading anemones. I recently noticed there are a number of bugs crawling all over them and probably bothering them. Pics attached. Some as about 1/3 of an inch. Remember tank is in fallow. Fish are about to come back in. I suppose these bugs are thriving because of lack if predators but want to make sure they are fair players. I have trucks load of them. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Bugs bugging my nems
Those are good. They are a part
Of a healthy system. Nothing to worry about here. They aren’t part of your anemone issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yep, gammarus amphipods. Not part of the problem.

The bugs are a sign of tank health, but having anemones in a very new tank when you are new to the hobby is real risky: look up-thread in the stickies for ideal water conditions and be very sure to maintain those conditions rigorously, plus if your nems aren't anchoring or opening, make good changes slowly and above all don't try to handle or 'help' nems. They're real easy to hurt.

Amphipods will not harm nems, you should post pics of nems for best advice on what's going on there.

Thank you all!...It seems that fish will have extra fun hunting these bugs once they are back into the tank.

It's possible the fallow period may have affected your nems, less nutrients, food, fish waste filtered in.
You can try mysis squirted towards them and see if that helps. Usually a mag either survives cipro and is fine, or if not done properly they usually perish, but hard to say what's going on there w/out seeing it and seeing your setup
