Suggestion on using this sump as a refugium

So i have this sump https://simplicityaquatics.com/sumps/
It's the 150ss. I really want to have a refugium again. I don't normally use the sock and i figure if i do i could just put it in there and take it right back out. I was thinking that instead of using the first section with the filter sock, i could put a led pointing in from the outside and then run chaeto and some other stuff like mareine pure blocks and copepod hotels. Thoughts, suggestions etc. ? I am setting up a new tank btw.

I like the simplicity line personally. I made my own sump with some baffles in a 20g tank but they are well made and priced right.

I was told that simplicity is having a price increase on 3/1 so you may want to make your decision soon. It might just be the skimmer line but I don't know.

sump

I own the simplicity but i was thinking of using it different than intended. I actually made a 20 gallon long with acrylic baffles. The only reason i was thinking of still using the Simplicity sump is for more water volume but maybe i will just sell it and use the 20 gallon.
