Anemone id
So I picked up a new anemone yesterday and was told it was a bubble tip but I have my doubts (still, couldn't pass up a blue bubble tip). To me it almost looks like a rock nem but much too big. It isn't doing great right now, but it is still new to the tank. What do you guys think? And if it isn't a bubble tip, how do you care for this type? Should it even be in my tank? Pics on the way. Thanks

I’m no expert but does not look like a bubble tip to me.
Looks more like a long tentacle anemone. I can be wrong. |

Thanks Alex, you may be right. I guess now I need an ID on my other "long tentacle anemone" lol

If that is its stalk in the background, and it has a red color to it, it might actually be a condylactis anemone. My in-laws have one. The tenticles can be light in color (but that probably isn't good for them). They tend to be more tan to purple. They can get huge. My in-laws is the size of a basketball. It has grown massive in just a few months (I think they feed it a lot). It's so hard to tell with photos because of lights, etc, but it certainly looks like it could be a condy.

My lights are pretty white, so your seeing its actual color. So you think the blue color may be that it's bleached/unhealthy? That's lame. Yes it's a pinkish red stalk (same as my other long tentacle). It also has green speckles at the top of the stalk. Condy huh? I'll look into it, thanks!

The thing that's throwing me off is that it doesn't have many tentacles in the center, it has more of a skirt of tentacles around the perimeter like a rock anemone

Thanks Orion. Do you think the long tentacle has been bleached or colored in an unhealthy way (should I take it back to the store)?

Well over the past 2 days it has deteriorated quickly. Yesterday it turned itself inside out and today it looks like this (see pic). One of my fish even took a bite of it. Should i get this out of my tank asap, or give it some more time? I'm pretty unhappy with the lfs at this point, they sold me a bleached long tentacle and and called it a colored bubble tip. My fault I guess, I had my doubts about it being a bubble tip the whole time and should of went with my gut.
