Hi at all.
since i see a lot of blind spots in my 25g cube i ask you what is the best way in your opinion to regulate flow in a cube! Thank you! |

My 60 cube used an IceCap gyre

The 6040 has lots of mounting options. Horizontally, vertically, with, or without the flow deflector. I like to mount them horizontally attached to the side glass in one of the back corners about four inches below the surface. The flow deflector works better in smaller tanks if you cut off about 2/3 of the shroud. It creates a wider flow pattern, yet still allows for some directional control.

On the back right next to the return inlet on random mode. Gave good surface movement and the MP10 was on the side toward the bottom. Worked pretty well but you have to play with it to get the Sweet spot. Everyone's rocks are setup different

this is my actual disposition (you can see at the moment i'm under cyanobacteria) the return inlet is up to the right.. for example the space under the powerhead is a blind spot (sand accumulates there) |

The thing about flow it is trial and error, and better to have more pumps than less. Start with two.

I had this same cube. With your rocks scape you might want to add a small power head to help

Based on your picture, rotate it 90 degrees so you are looking at the propeller when looking into the front of the tank. Try it with the flow deflector removed and see how you like it. I personally would put it on the other side of the tank since the prop spins counter-clockwise and the exiting water is pushed in that direction.

Sort of. The exiting water without the deflector will spin to the left in a tornado-like fashion. Try it where it is and see how you like it. If you keep it on the left side I would mod the deflector by trimming off 2/3 of the semicircle shroud so you can direct the flow to the right towards the center of the front viewing pane. Replacement deflectors can be had cheaply on Tunze.com so don't worry about trimming it down.
