Radion G4 - How to prevent premature failure

According to Ecotech, there's a possibility for salt creep or humidity to collect and penetrate through the rubber booted buttons on the top of a G4 unit.

This can cause the light to fail even if the buttons are never pushed.

The $300 repair isn't cover by their warranty as it's considered water damage.

To protect the lights in the future, I've sealed the buttons with duct tape and a silica packet. I'm not sure this will work, but I don't know what else to do.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to better protect these buttons?

I wish they hadn't gone with this design, as their old design with sealed, capacitive buttons were bullet proof. I use the reeflink for all the controls, so maybe the next gen can be button less.
