sizing my durso standpipe
my builtin overflow is a square measuriung only 5 x 5".. The drain hole/Bulkhead is a whopping 2.5".. which fits a 1.5" pipe. I was thinking of going durso standpipe but then realized 1.5" piping and T and all that might not fit in this section. can i go 1.5" to 1" reducer and create a 1" standpipe
instead of 1.5" .. does reducing the pipe size have any ill effect and do I even need a durso standpipe? Thanks |

Smaller diameter can cause lower frequency surging. As the water level in the drain pipe raises and lowers, it will have to travel farther in a smaller pipe, which takes more time. So the time between "silent" and "trickling" will take longer, than with a larger diameter.
Mine was 1" that I ran for six years or so.
