Amonia at 1.0

My amonia is at 1.0mg/L . i want to get a fish but i want to know if this is a harmful level. thanks

It's not strong enough to kill hardier fish try doing a water change first. Better safe than sorry my mom always tells me

Any ammonia above zero, even trace, is toxic to livestock. 1.0 is considered quite high. Your tank isn't cycled. How long have you had it, how large is it, what's in it so far, etc.? Water changes aren't really necessary unless you have life in the tank already, or you are having an algae problem you want to control before you get fish.

Well my tank is at the end of the cycle and i want to try to add a lemon peel angel

If your tank has that much ammonia, it's not at the end of the cycle, just the beginning. Hold off on the angel. There must be something producing the ammonia, do you have fish or do you have newly added live rock?

it is a 55g tank adnt here is nothing in it yet.
