Rotating bulkhead fittings

Hi i was woundering if anyone has tryed useing the rotating bulkhead fittings like the ones in hot tubs for the returm water.

The only problem with using those is they need a plastic pole thing to snap into, I dont see how that would work unless there is some seriuos fabrication.
