Will the dull color of corals brighten up??
I ordered some orange, purple and green montipora digitata and capricorniss online. Unfortuanaely the colors are very dull and brownish, even with the polyps showing. There doesn't seem to be any fllourensence.
Do you think they will eventually brighten up under my 2x 250 watt, 20k mh lights if i put them in the upper part of the tank?? Or are they always going to be this brownish? Thanks. D |

They should brighten up. What kind of lights were they under and what kind do you have now?

as with any sps, water quality has to be excellent. I have searched montipora though, and have heard that they are the more hardy sps, and have slightly lower lighting demands, so under MH, you should be set. The dull colouring is probably from the condtions they were under before you purchased them.

I'm not sure what they were under, but 2x 250 watt, 20k mh lights are what they're under now.
I hope they get brighter !! |

Don't put your monti caps real high up in the tank, med line or just a couple inches lower would be real good. Its been my experience that they don't like a LOT of light. Most of the ones i've seen that are killer bright are under vho/pc combos.
Just my opinion and suggestion. Brianna ![]()

roons,
YGPM maybe you need to adjust your monitors color, cause it looks pretty darn pink to me!

Assuming water quality and tank conditions are good they should color up for you. It's not uncommon for frags/corals to brown out during shipping.
