Need 46 and 72 gal bow front stand demensions

Ok Im calling all people with 46 gal bow front and 72 gal bow front. I need the interior demensions of these stands for those that dont mind measuring them for me. Problem is how they are curved, so the best way i could think of is
measure from the back corners from side to side, and then the same for the front for width.
then measure in the middle to the back and then from side corner to the back for depth.

Ive searched all lfs and online and no one has any info on them

I have a 72 bow and would be more than willing to help you. My first question is why are you asking? For a sump/refugium (length)? Or for your [insump] skimmer (height)?

Im at work now so i cant measure it for you at the moment.... but just to get you started i can tell you that i have a 24 x 12 x 16 sump underneath mine with an ASM g2 skimmer in it (height for skimmer is about 23" i believe). If you like the look of bowfronts like i do you will become a master at fitting way more than you think is possible underneath it. You just really have to think about how you want to do it (aka measure x3 ...cut once) and plan ahead!!! If you dont you will end up spending way more than you want too.... trust me. Good luck

I wouldnt want to try to put anything bigger underneath that stand than what i got..... in fact i dont even know if it would be possible. I will try to post a picture of my setup today to help you further.

i was going to try and build a sump sort of like a half a octagon, if that makes any sense. If not then i will have to reduce the size and take the safe route

thats a alot crammed in there, i foget that theres usualy only one door isnt there. Can you still measure it? Does the 24" take up most of the length and does the 12" deep take most all of the depth?

I have a 46 bowfront and I have a fifteen gal. under mine but mine is a custum stand that I built, but i am sure the tank will fit under the stand that comes with the tank. Look at my gallery for a pic.

I put a 20L (30" wide) in mine as a sump. I had to lower it through the top of the stand before I placed the tank because it would not fit through the doors.

That reminds me. I am building a basement sump to replace the under tank one... how the heck am I going to get the 20L out now?!

As for width (12")....yeah it will take up most of it. However the length as you can see(acutally you probably cant see it due to the stand).... will allow for a little more space. I have my sump slid to the right in the stand until it hits the brace before the corner. I did this so all my electrical equipment (timers, plugs, etc) could be accessable in the Lefthand section of the stand. You cant see it in the picture.... but i also have a clamp light in the left section (turned on in the picture) so i can see what the hell im doing when im down there messing about. Without it i would have had to fumble around with a flashlight in my teeth...... no thanks. As i said before.... its definitely a tight fit.... would something larger like a 30"....maybe (wouldnt give you any room to play around though).... but to me it would be a lot like stuffing a fat guy into a volkswagon rabbit.... you might get him in, but you'll have a hell of a time getting him out. Good luck.

poppin fresh, how wide is your 20L, u said its 30" wide, but im sure u ment long.

Tanks already running so a 30" is out of the question, pitt prodigy did ur tank fit in threw the front or back and not the top?

Yeah.... but you have to leave at least a 3"-4" space between the back wall and the stand....and then you have to remove the glass door and angle the tank into the front of the stand diagonally (TRUST ME a 24" long tank will just barely make it!!! It will be tight). I have no idea how poppin got his in through the top as with a pre-built oceanic stand the top is sealed and not open. I suppose you could take a hammer too it and beat the top off of it and then tack it back down when you got the sump in....but again, remember.... sumps are not always a permanant fixture and sometimes need modified. If you cant get the sump out because you got 720+lbs of water on top of it, your only option if something happens or you want to mod would be to work under the stand. I wouldnt want to attempt it. I dont know how big you are but lying on the floor and working through the hole that front panel provides would be no fun at all!!

As far as getting the 24" in and out.....I almost had a major problem with this since i didnt think i would have to remove my sump when i first set up the tank and everything was dry. I just popped it in there and slid the stand to the back of the wall. Problem was.... whenever it came time to upgrade i tried to remove it the same way i put it in and found out that i didnt leave enough space to angle it out again!! AND with over 1000lbs of crap on top of the stand sliding it across a carpeted floor is not easy. By some extreme feat of strength (probably adrenaline induced due to the fact that i thought i was screwed!) i was able to move it a good 1/2" which was enough to squeak the tank out and then back in again after i modified it. Leave a little space behind the tank and you will never have to battle this problem.

It is amazing the strength that sheer fear can produce! Especially when you know that your the one who made the bonehead move that you know have to fix!

I have an All Glass 46 bow with stand. When it was up and running I had a CPR 192 cyclone bio filter under there with a Mag Drive pump, fit pretty snug. The dimensions of the CPR are 15 x 9 x 14.5. Hope that helps

last ? does the 72 gal bow stand shapped like a rectangular inside, or does it curve. I found a 46 gal today that the inside was a rectangle, so i thought maybe the 72 is the same.

it's curved. i fit a 20L in mine. it has to go through the top if it's AGA stand. no idea about the oceanic. but the 20L fits in just right. smack in the middle of the stand. leaving room on both sides. hope you can understand what im trying to say. lol

The Oceanic stand is curved with the tank..... and the top is closed, not open.

ok ive decided on the sizes im going with
46 gal is getting a 20x9 1/2x16 thats going in threw the back opening which i belive is 21" wide

72 is getting 24x12x16 that i think will go in threw the front, if not have to make it in threw the back (pitt prodigy correct me if im wrong here)

both are gonna house an asm g1x skimmer, and one set of bubble traps in the middle, ill post some pics next week once they are done. These are ment to be very basic by design by request of the person im building them for.

It will go in the front.... just leave a little space between the tank and the wall if possible as i stated before and remove the glass door (very easy to do). What your going with is a good size sump for the tank. Working great for me. Good luck and i would definitely be interested in seeing some pics of your work when your done. Basic but functional is always the best way to go.

ok i almost forgot to throw up pics once i finished them, unfortunatlely i dont have pics once they had the skimmer and were running. Oh and the green stuff is the padding that goes under hardwood floors, ive had great luck with it cause if it gets wet, it wont mold like foam will.
