Question Effluent drip cup

I'm setting up my first calcium reactor and I have noticed several posts that mention a drip cup. How do I make one and is it necessary?

Thanks

I used a specimen container that hangs on the side of my sump. I plan to make something smaller. You just need something deep enough to submerge a PH probe in is all. You could use a plastic dixie cup if you wanted to with a clothes pin to hold it to the side of your sump. You will need it to fine tune your effluent on your calcium reactor.

I Just dripped into my Filter bag in my ETS Sump, by the HSA 1000 Skimmer intake, works really well!
