U-tube overflow question

Hi,

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a U-tube smaller than
1" say either 1/2 or a 3/4?

thanks

Why would you want one smaller? If you are looking to restrict flow, this is not the place to do it. Help us out with a lil more information as to why you think you need one.

Thanks,
Ryan

A small dia U Tube is for a very low flow setup (< 200GPH). You need to have enough velocity to keep bubbles blown through.

Try any of the websites that sell eheim or fluval canisters. You can usually buy a replacement u-tube for them. I think they are 1/2".

This is for a single lifereef overflow. The problem exist with the overflow itself. Put bluntly here unless I have a Eheim 1260 hooked up
it does not fill the overflow which becomes noisey. And also I think 400 gal. though a sump is alittle more than I need. I've tried resticting the flow to the sump but all that did was cause frustration and a lot of time
spent for watching the water back up in the outside box itself til it about overflowed. A bit risky.

But wouldn't it be somewhat of the same difference?

I run a LR and an Eheim 1260. If you want to raise the level in the skimmer box, raise it in the drain box and it will follow. Use a taller standpipe in the drain and the level will come up. How many GPH are you running through the overflow? BTW, LR has 3/4" U Tubes available, but I dont think you need one unless you are < 200GPH or so and are accumulating air bubbles.
