Reef Safe???

I was at the lfs yesterday and saw this rock that looks like the hirocks rock it is called texas holey rock here is a thread on a ciclid site that talks about it www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/tx_holey_rock.php I want to know if this is safe to use as it looks nice is quite large and the price is pretty cheap. So someone please help me.

lime and dolomite rock. it should be ok, i can't guarantee it.

but if it is only limestone and dolomite then you'd be fine.

yeah, it's limestone right...i have a bunch of it in my mbuna tank...i don't see any reason why it would hurt any thing...it is pretty heavy though, and very dense. but i have found some really sweet shapes...it's probably the coolest looking rock consistently, unless you make your own

I use it as base rock in my salt tanks works great and very porous

Ya its ok, I have a couple pieces in my tank, you just cant beat that shape, they look great. They've been in my reef for 2-2 1/2 years. Fish love them I keep an anemone with a pair of pink skunk clowns next to it, when they're not in the anemone they're in the rock. Its an excellent rock for them to lay eggs in real smooth.

yeah i love that rock in my mbuna tank, it's awesome to build structures with, i just didn't htink it would be very porous

texas holey is ok for a salt tank. I would only use it to maybe create a frame for my live rock if I ever used it. But I would never recommend using it over live rock.
