do leathers have sweepers?

I have a yellow fiji leather and as of the past 2 nights, I have noticed these 10" long feathers that come out when I feed. Sometimes 2 come out of the same spot which is from a fold in the leather. whatever is is has full control of the feathers and can quickly extend or withdraw them. Im guessing its something living on the leather rather than the leather itself. Anyone know about these?

Sounds like ctenophores to me. A search should bring up some pictures. Leather corals don't have sweepers.
