Hiding Green Chromis

Hi All,

I bought a Green Chromis Friday afternoon and he continues to hide @ the top of the tank behind my powerhead. He will come out and eat just fine and when the rest of the room is pitch dark. But he seems to hide when anyone is in the lit room.

I've read and heard that Chromis are surface dwellers and a schooling fish. I only wanted to buy one fish because I have recently changed and cycled everything over. Loosing more than one fish for the same reasons seemed like a big waste to me.

All my levels check ok (by me and @ my nearest LFS). SG checks @ 1.024 which was the same @ the store. (only dumped him into tank and no store water after a hour acclimation process)

I was just wondering if anyone thinks he is diseased or something. He looks and acts fine (accept for hiding). He does not look bloated or like he is breathing too fast or anything.

Thanks in advance for the help!
Matt

i have 3 in my tank.

i think mine did the same thing so to speak it takes them a little while to get going. i will have to admit they dont have the personality like a clownfish does.

So maybe I should give him more time?

I only had two other adult dasmels before (bought from a friend) but they would instantly hide in the live rock. I was expecting the same from him I guess

Most ew fish will hide and rarely come out until they get accustomed to their new home. Give it a few more days.
