If you get a Kole tang they require a 70 gallon tank atleast. They can get up to 7 or 8 inches in length.
I would think what you have now you should only add the Kole tang and leave the fish you do have now. |

I know about them. Ive had one before. They only really reach 5-6'' maxium. The smaller fish aren't going to add alot to the bio-load. Im just wondering how many firefish to get.

One. They are rather intolerant of each other, despite popular belief. The purple firefish tends to be even worse about this.

I have 3 red firefish in a 125. I think 2 would be ok in a 75, but I'd cover that tank with egg crate before I got them, even the overflow box. They are notorious jumpers. I added 3, I already had egg crate on the back but not over the overflow, and the next morning one was in the overflow box, another in the sump, only one was left in the display tank.
They can be shy. Mine are doing fine with 5 chromis, 4 PJ cardinals, a clown, a sailfin tang, and a mandarin. All my fish are pretty mello. Some people report their firefish are scared to eat because of other, active fish, and starve to death.

Jumping in here, cause eventually I would like to add some firefish to my tank once it is going...
Can you mix firefish together, like a red and a purple? (I would like some helfriechi, but they are out of my league for a while).

I think I might just get 1 of them to stay safe and not take chances of having to get one out. Ill put some egg-crate on the overflow and take pictures of the top tonight.

I had two in my 90. I introduced them together. They were fine for about six months adn then they started fighting. One was more dominant than the other. Their fighting has gone on for about five months now. I haven't seen one of them for the last few weeks. Probably dead. I would tend to agree with one.
