Question How do I make a bottle trap for crab?

I've seen pics of the inverted bottle traps for catching crabs. How do I make one? Do I cut the top off the bottle and turn it upside down?

Or is there a better trap to make to catch one?

Just take a small glass and lean it up against a rock. Place some shrimp in it as bait and wait. It may take a night or two but eventually the crab will climb in. At that point, it won't be able to climb back out because of the surface of the glass.

the shrimp in your tank for more that a little while will release some heavy nutrients.
I tried for 24 hours and then took the trap out in fear of ammonia.
boy did it stink! didn't catch the crab though

I tried this with a 6" tall shot glass. About 10 minutes after I put it in the tank my Maroon Clown swam down grab the shrimp and fed it to my RBTA. No Crab!

I need to get something that the clown can't get in.

You may want to try this at night after your lights go out. Your clown is less likely to be as active and your crab is likely to be out and about.
As far as the shrimp causing an ammonia spike. I don't think you're going to have a problem as long as you don't leave it in there for more than a day or so.
