New Aquascape/Stand for 105 Tall
Check it out. We're setting up our new 105 tall(28 inches high) so I am trying to make my rockwork as vertical as possible. I tried to make shelves radiate out so that lower shelves aren't blocked from light by upper shelves on this structure. The topmost slab is going to be for croceas. I think the way it will angle them forward should look pretty cool. The last picture should give some scale. The whole structure is about 23 inches high and it doesn't touch the glass anywhere.
You can also see our stand in the last pic. We bought it at the LFS and sanded it down for staining and repainting. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. I'd love to hear any thoughts about the rockwork, stand or both. Thanks! -Clark ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks like a really cool tank... What are the dimensions?
May be a little tough to reach the bottom for cleaning/maint....

Thanks!
Dimensions are 48W x 18D x 28.5H. Yeah, I have to stand on something to reach the bottom and even then it's a stretch. I am 5'9". -Clark |

Lighting is going to be provided by a 48" Maristar with 2 250W HQI Metal Halides and 2 54W T5 actinics. The ballast is a BlueWave VII. Under the tank is a 40 gallon sump/refugium(Catalina Aquariums) using Miracle Mud and a large skimmer(Catalina Aquariums). We* are going to use a Wave2k in the center for flow possibly supplemented by a few power heads behind the rockwork on timers. I think the Wave2K will really make the softies move and create a nice "oceanic" effect.
We're doing softies, a few fish, and the clams so I am not sure yet if we are going to add any dosing equipment such as a calcium reactor or kalkwasser drip. It's really going to be a pretty simple setup but for the most part we like pretty simple corals. Pearl coral, frogspawn, candy cane coral, clove polyps, varied ricordias, varied zoos, mushrooms, some star polyps, kenyi tree, and a scolymia or two. That's what we know for sure right now but we're leaving room for others to be decided on later. *We=Me and the girlfriend. -Clark |
