Mounting return pump on the side of the tank?
Instead of resting the external return pump on floor of my stand, would be ok to mount it to the side of the stand?

i have seen this done before, but couldnt tell you if there were any long term problems or anything like that. i will say it does work and people have done it before.

A few years back I was told by both Aquatic Ecosystems and Little Giant that it would cause damage to the bearings to run the pumps that way. Little Giant pumps have oil holes for the front and rear bearings and apparently running the pump "vertical" affects the oil distribution in the bearing.
It may be different for other brands of pumps. I would contact the manufacturer of your pump to see what they suggest. |
