Correct size pump for tank ?
What would be a good size pump for a FOWLR 30g tank (possibly corals in the future), 400/500 gph ? Is there a general rule of thumb as to how many times per hour your tanks water should cycle ?

i do not think there is a rule of thumb, but hopefully someone will post some facts. My tank is turning over about 18 - 19 times per hour.

Are you talking about turnover through the sump or the tank in general?

The turnover through the sump is about 10x and the tank is about 30x, which I plan on increasing to 40-45x.
Some people with SPS have a 90x turnover rate or more. |
