Retrofit vs. Light Hoods (confused)

Hello,
I'm very new to this hobby and got a little confused when looking for lighting.

Can someone explain why the T5 Tek Light hoods (specifically the 48" Tek Light: 6-54W T5 HO Fluorescents http://www.reefgeek.com/products/cat...ng/104193.html) is cheaper than the Retro fit kit (48" Retrofit: 6-54W T5 HO Fluorescents http://www.reefgeek.com/products/cat...ng/104069.html )

I would think DIY kits would be cheaper.

Thanks!!

The hood doesn't come with bulbs.......though it says "3 free for a limited time". So you'd still need 3 more.

Still doesn't make to much sense.

Retro fit with lights = $449
Hood w/out lights is $309 + $120 (6 lights X $20) = $429

Still don't understand why the hood is cheaper than a DIY kit.

Yeah you're right, I didn't know bulbs were that cheap. Maybe it's a sale or something Usually the retro's are quite a bit cheaper than the hoods.
