I could never justify the expense, but they do work well. It would not send water over the top at all. It is basically just like a powerhead, but it moves from side to side.

I use two 3/4" Seaswirls on my returns to the tank with a Tunze stream for added movement. You can also get accelerator nozzles for the Seaswirl which really bump up the flow. Personally, I think they're well worth the expense. Good luck!

Sea swirls are great, waysea are a little too pricey now since they just hit the market give it some time for the price to come down.

I've had two 3/4 sea swirls for about 7 years. I completely ignored them (no maintenance) and sometime in the last 2 years they stopped rotating. Roughly 5 years of non stop running with no maintenance is very good IMO. I sent them to the manufacturer and they completely rebuilt them to brand new condition for all of $75.

Good product with quite a few years of success/durability.

I havent tried the wavysea, but it does look like a viable competitor with a more modern design (but it is unproven in the long term).
