1/4" plexi thick enough to not bow?
Im trying to do a plexiglass lid for my 50gal
36" X 18" with a 8" glass brace in the middle. I want to do it with 2 sheets, So about two 18" X 18" squares. 192watts of PC over top So the question is will 1/4" plexiglass bow? Or will it be thick enough not to? |

Mine is a little bit less the 1/2 half inch 8"x14" sheet. I think and it bows due to heat...
Try 3/4"

Yes it will bow. I have a 9" x 10" 1/4 " thick pice on my sump with no light and it bowed.

Its for my FW tank that has rainbows. Who get a little exuberant at feeding time and my Dojo loach who's already gone carpet surfing once. I'm starting to think it'll just be easier to go with egg-crate though. |

it bows from absorbing water on one side. if you really want to use acrylic, you could just flip it every few days so it absorbs water evenly.
