What coral has your Flame Angel eatten?
My question is simply, what coral has your Flame Angel eatten? Every thread I find, says they ate my coral or they nip at my coral or they are fine. But what type of coral are they eatting? Frogspawn, Hammer, Blasto Merletti, Montipora Digitata, Mushroom, etc. The more specific the better.
If this was already posted with these questions, I'm sorry for repeating, but I couldn't find anything this specific. Thanks. |

I have kept a wide variety of corals in my tank (all kinds of softies, LPS, clams, and SPS).. the ONLY thing my Flame Angel nips at is green open brains (completely ignores the red/green one). Weird fish...

With all the people that say they're 50/50 reef safe, there must be more people that have had corals eatten than this?

Not a flame, but my halfblack dwarf angel nips at my hammer and frogspawn but doesn't actually harm it or eat it - I think there's something on the surface of Euphyllia corals that tastes yummy to these guys.

None. I'd be very happy if it would eat Zoa's. They are taking over and I need to get rid of them.

I have never had one in a reef, but I have seen it before. What I have HEARD is that they may or may not nibble at the mantle of clams, and at LPS corals. No need to worry with softies or sps corals to my knowledge.

Mine hasn't eaten any corals. He'll nip at the SPS, but really shows no interest in actually eating them. He mostly pecks at the LR all day.

i think one of the keys to succes with them(not that i have one) is a)keep them well fed. a hungry angel might just be tmepted to take a bite or nip, but if he has been fed alot, not so much. b)add them after the reef is esablished. if he's in a bare tank and then HWMA! there is coral, might be another temptation. and lastly, c)a big tank, i think the bigger the tank the less likely he is. he'll have more space to explore and will feel more comfertable around everything else. these are just some theories( so don't listend to me
