Lighting Opinion and Questions

Hello: I found some light bulbs to buy local (Individual not LFS) at a reasonable price (I think) but want to make sure that I am still not wasting my money. Here is what is available.

(Qty 1) 48" 50/50 110W VHO Bulb (ESU)
110 watt, 360 degree output, 50 percent 6000k, 50 percent 7100k actinic 03 blue.

(Qty 2) 48" Trichromatic Super Daylight 110W VHO Bulb (ESU)
110 watt, 360 degree output, 50 percent 6500k, 94 CRI .

(Qty 1) ESU Coralife 48" Actinic (NON VHO)
40 watt, 360 degree output, 100 percent Actinic 03 Blue .

All four bulbs for $40.

Also, what ballast would I need to run these bulbs? My hood tank is wooden, is there a risk of fire with these bulbs?

Thanks, Patrick

Is this for new bulbs (as in unused)? If so it seems to be a decent deal. You could run them all off a IceCap 660 for about $150, of you could run them off two Fulham Workhorse 7's for about $80. There a couple of other options as well, but they fall somewhere in between these two and accomplish the same result.

The bulbs are new. What about heat issues? Can these bulbs and Icecap 660 be installed in the wooden tank canopy?

What do you think about this lighting for my 72 gal reef tank? Will it be sufficient?

Thanks, Patrick

One more thing, what about installing the Icecap 660 with end caps into the wooden canopy? Just do not want to burn down the house over my new hobby. The wife would definetly leave me.

Thanks, Patrick
