SCWD vs FLO Rotating Deflector

I appreciate the feedback on the undesirability of running a canister filter with a Wavemaster--thanks. Other posts suggest noise and freeze-ups with the SCWD. Any thoughts on using the FLO Rotating Deflector on the return nozzle of the canister instead of the SCWD?

Also--I saw references to something called an "OM" on some SCWD posts--what is an "OM"?

SCWD does not make any noise i believe. I have 1, but my pump is loud so I dont use it anymore. Plugged it in for 1 day and unplugged it the same day. But the SCWD does work and very well I like it, but I want a quiter pump.

I also bought the FLO rotating deflector and i dont like it. It didnt fit 1 of my powerheads so it was pulled out the same day.

If you are interested in any of them I'm selling both of them. LMK

OM refers to oceansmotions devices usually a 4way, squirt or super squirt rotary valves that allow water to flow in and then depending on the type of drum lets it out one or two of the outlets. They also make a device called a revolution that further randomizes the flow. I use a super squirt and revolutions on my tank and am very happy with them.

i use the FLO and they are pretty cool things for the price, depending of the size of your tank they will look big, they work with no problems, and when they freezed up, clean them up just take like 2 minutes

what else you can ask for 13 bucks

I have both and they are really two totally different beasts. As is the OM line of products.
Flo : Rotating deflector that operates off a propellor and worm screw type gear.Internal only .Drops flow quite a bit due to friction loss. Works well in tanks up to 65. Cant handle more than 300gph comfortably. Rotation speed depends on flow.

SCWD : inline 2 way switching valve operating off similar principal to FLO. Internal/External . Drops flow very little. 50-1400GPH. Switching speed depends on flow. Outputs do not rotate, so less randomization but more versatility than flow.

OM : similar to s.c.w.d. but uses programmable servo to rotate valve causing switching. Models to handle various flows.

I own many Flo's and one s.c.w.d.. They both seem well made but I have not owned the S.C.W.D. long enough to be sure.
