*AquaC Remora Skimmer*

I am planning to buy this skimmer within the next few days. Some input please. The tank it is going into is a 29g w/ an Eclipse hood that I will be modding.

Also, would I need to buy a Surface Skimmer/Bubble Trap box?

If anyone knows of any place selling them for better then $164 please let me know.

There is one for sale in the classifieds, not sure if it is gone yet. This is how I bought mine and usually you can get one in good shape for a 100 or so. I didn't get the surface skimmer because it was too big for the tank I was using it on, however I know a skimmer is more efficient when it pulls water from the surface. As far as a bubble trap , I never had a problem with bubbles on mine with out the trap

I'd skip the surface skimmer and just get a 12" piece of 1/2" tubing so you can move the MJ away from the outflow.

Forget the surface skimmer, waste of money as it barely changes the unit's performance -- invest that money improving surface agitation in your tank which is important for the Remora since it pulls supply from below the surface. With enough agitation, you don't need to worry about the supply pump being too close to the outflow.

On another post I saw someone used the AquaClear surface skimmer that seems to work nicely with the skimmer. It also adjusts for the water level. Something the crappy AquaC box does not.
