Ozone Poisining ?
Is there such thing as ozone poisining ? Since I have installed my ozonator and ORP meter I have had a few unexplained deaths in my tank . I have it set at 300 .The lastest was a bi-color dottyback this morning. He was fine last night and I turned the ozonator on last night as well. I only have two other fish in the tank and they are fine as well as the shrimp . snails and coral . It happened two other times as well. 3 chromis fell victim one time and a Flame Angel the next. I'm at a loss of words .
Any ideas ? Brent |

How are you running your ozone? Skimmer, reactor? I think the only way ozone could kill your fish is if some residuals get back into your tank. Can you smell ozone around your tank?

If your ORP meter works I would look else where for the problem.

How much ozone are you pushing into the skimmer, in mg/hr? I think that chances of ozone poisoning your fish are fairly small but...for your own safety I would put carbon on top of the skimmer cup to clean the residuals and just to make sure nothing goes back into the tank you may also want to consider running the skimmer output through some carbon as well.

Going along with idua, what type of skimmer do you have? A number of them have a place to put carbon just for that purpose.

I'm running a Turbofloater 1000 Multi for a skimmer.
