Gen-X PCX 55HP Pump Overheating Bad

I have a Genx PCX-55HP pump running my MR2 Skimmer. Now I left my house 1 hour ago and back home to find my skimmer not working and the pump boiling hot. The pump was so hot that I burned my hand when I touched it. What could be a possible reason for this? The pump is plumbed to a bulkhead in my sump so the problem is not it running dry. There is nothing that could have gotten in my sump that could have clogged the pump since my drains go into filter socks. Also it has yet to even be a month since I set up the skimmer it is very unlikely that the impeller is dirty. It won’t even turn on right now.
