I use a mj 1200 also with a 40 gal trash can. I fill the can and add salt and let the pump run for a day or 2. It gives me time to make sure the salt mixture is right. For pumping it into the tank or buckets I bought a submersable pump from lowes for 50 bucks. I just pump the water right into the tank. It takes about 2 mins to pump 30 to 35 gals into the tank about 20 ft away.

I actually just use small rubbermaid totes, they are small and do not take up the space a trash can does. NO leaking, and mix right up with a Maxi-jet 900 or 1200.

I'm using an eheim 1250 in a brute.

the 1250 was a leftover from my whole slow flow thru sump debacle.

Mag 3, Mag 5, Mag 7 -- whichever of the old beasts happens to be closest. I use 5 gallon buckets (4 of them per water change) just so I can easily maneuver them for siphoning into the sump.

I also use Mag 3, Mag 5, Mag 7 -- whichever of the old beasts happens to be closest for mixing kalk in a 44 gallon Brute.

They're good, durable pumps that are powerful and don't require a lot of maintenance.

RIO, baby! I use a Rio 2500 that I would never trust in my tank. It's great for mixing saltwater, and I can pump it via 10' of tubing into my sump when doing a water change.

Did you start plumbing the new tank yet? Need any more parts? I'd like to come over and help.

Mag5 to mix in a 25g trash can, then attach tubing to transfer to tank.
