homemade skimmer

has anyone made and used snailmans skimmer in the DIY forum?
id like to try this project but would like to hear a few opinions on the project.
anyone think it would be a good skimmer?

For a deent size skimmer you will need a LARGE airpump or a small army of medium sized airpumps.

Look at the Alita airpumps (20 liter pump is close to $200). These are great skimmers and very efficient. Ceramic fine poor stones are a decent choice and produce fairly small bubbles. The DIY basswood stones are nice, but a PITA to make all the time.
