Water emitting from new DI cartridge smells like...

...a dirty hooker's crotch!! Luckily, my Rubbermaid Brute container for holding the water is in the garage for the moment. Why does it stink like that?? The big question is, do I discard the first "x" amount of water produced from the new cartridge?? The cartridge is a Spectrapure (I think .5 micron) DI filter.

from what i know you ARE supposed to discard X amount of water off the new cartiridge. my can smelt like that after a while and then i rinsed it out and it went away. now i clean out the can at least once a month. and it smells fresh and clean.

mine always gives me that "not so fresh feeling" when new.

I would refrain from the temptation of using summers eve on the di cartridge. The smell will pass in time or you will get used to it

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I actually don't know of very many illustrators with websites sadly. I assume they are like me...too busy to get one up and running.

I must sit down and put one together though in the near future.

drew struzan has a site but he is still painting conventionally. It is tough to beat that guy.
what are you looking for specifically?

My unit says that you're supposed to discard the first 15 minutes worth of water from each new cartridge.

But more importantly, how do you know what a "dirty hooker's crotch" smell like?

FountainHead: I figured someone would ask that and my response is this: Have you never said "Eww, that tastes like (insert the "S" word here)!!?? I'll take the hooker anyday over a steaming pile of Stuff. Thaks for the tip though. I discraded about 20 gallons and it doesn't stink as bad now. I also have Spectrapure on the case and they are being extremely helpful!!
