Kalkwasser reactor plumbing questions

Hi all- a couple of quick questions on DIY kalkreactors: I want to plumb one inline with my RO/DI auto-topoff using .25" tubing and push-in quick connectors (the plastic Home Depot ones), using a water filter cannister as the reactor (looks like one stage of an RO/DI prefilter). Will the plastic, and more specifically, the O-rings be able to deal with the saturated Ca(CO)2 solution?

Also, I was planning on just dumping the Kalk powder into the bottom of the filter cannister and letting the water flow in and mix with/sit over the powder, with small amounts of flow each time the float valve opens and allows some of the solution to flow into my sump. Is this likely to produce well saturated Kalkwasser over an extended period of time (ie a couple of weeks)? Or is some sort of mixing required?

Thanks for any info or tips!
