This whole light thing is confusing-HELP

I have a new 120 with a 6" DSB 'beach' and flat rocks that stagger like shelves from the beach to the back. When I bought the set up from the LFS, I explained that I didn't want any restrictions on livestock due to lighting; I love clams and all of the light-loving things. The owner told me that since I was starting out so high, all I needed was a fixture with (2) 150 watt MH and (2) 96 watt actinic (10,000K). They will sit right on the tank rather than suspended. Is this really enought light? The box is unopened so I still have time to change if I absolutely have to.

I would not use it. If its a standard 120 4x2x2 then you will need atleast 250w MH to penetrate the bottom.
