Can fish be fat?
Hi I bought a clown tang several months ago and they warned me it could be very difficult to get the fish to eat and survive.
As soon as the 2nd day in the tank passed the tang started eating perfectly. The clown eats so well now that to my eyes it even appears to be a little bit fat. Can this be possible, can fish be fat. I don´t think I overfeed my tank, parameters are fine and algae control is hardly a problem. The clown tries to win every type of food put in the tank over his tankmates. Can this be a problem in the future. The other fish that also appears like the clown is a foxface. They only need a glance of me near the tank to start asking for food. I think the only thing they need is a tv with sports to really enjoy their snack. Please advise. |

Some people were just talking about this here:
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...at+fish+bettas That link does not give alot of info, but is worth checking out. Your short answer, YES, fish can over eat and get fat.

I wouldn't worry about overfeeding then. Tangs are usually almost constant grazers in the wild, so feeding them twice a day for 30 seconds shouldn't be too much.

All of my fish in all three of my tanks are really fat, including my powder blue tang. An absolute pig. But as long as they're healthy and active, no worries.

thanks a lot I guess in the wild they have more room to exercise. Maybe upgrading to a bigger tank in the future will help.
