You can try a kole tang. They eat all sorts of algea.I have never had an algea problem with my current tank.I have had problems in the past.I got a good clean up crew so in the first few months of the tanks start up the snails and crabs took care of the problem. My kole tang cleaned up what brown algea I had in 3 days.He ate it all.Constanly picks on the rocks and glass all day long.

Hi Everyone,
Well, the tank is actually looking pretty good. The brown hair is completely gone. I never saw anything eat it so I am guessing that either it just died off over time or died because of my short photoperiod. I am down to about 3 1/2 hours and my corals look teriffic. Strong growth and the coralline is really starting to come on. I have a couple types of green algage that have moved in as residents. They are more like macros and somewhat slow growing so I have just been pulling it out when I can. I have also been doing that with some valonia (bubble algae) as well. The emerald crabs are still alive so they must be eating something. One is just huge but I have had no casualties so I can't complain. My snail population has really died off. I think more due to starvation then anything. There is just no hair algae to be found in the tank and they dont appear to be interested in those macros. I will post some pictures when I have some time. |
