Kent VS Seachem

I am a retailer (no affilation to these companies) and I am curious which products people prefer and why.

I am curious which people buy more often, and which I should carry or both.

Again, I have no affliation, just curious.

I also prefer Kent. Thats what I've bought since day 1, and don't plan on changing anytime soon.

I've always used Seachem products with good success, and I think they make very high quality products that WORK. I've always thought of Kent as second rate to Seachem.

both. each has their own way of doing things. i use Kent salt, Seachem for test kits. i dont use either of their additives. i use homemade 2 part, or b-ionic.

I heard about the salt issue, but I think thats a uncommon issue, Im sure Kent fixed it ASAP.

Im more interested in the media (carbon, phosphate media etc) and the supplements (calcium alk etc).

I use/sell Oceanpure and Pacific Coast Imports salts.

Seachem ... for some reason I understand their chemicals/tests better. Also have a great website and good customer service when in doubt of supplementing your tank.

For some reason, my soft corals did not seem to like the SeaChem supplements, much happier with the Kent products. Perhaps the SeaChem is more concentrated? Less buffered? Anyway, I prefer the ability to dose right out of the bottle.

kent. always used them always will
there websites nice also and the people who work there are friendly and helpful

also i think kent packs the stuff nicer (better looking) and that shouldent effect sales but .. it does lol. when kent and seachem are on the same shelf the kent brand always catches your eye first

I like Seachem. I've used their supplements before and they work good. I used their test kits too, and while they aren't the best, they are a great value for the $5 pricetag.

Kent doesn't seem as good. I never gave them a shot, but they don't seem to be as recommended as much as Seachem.

Thanks guys! In response to a few statements,,,

Looks like its pretty much a tossup!

Goda:
They redid all there packaging, it looks pretty sharp now, (seachem) bottles are color coded etc.

Onthereef:
Seachem is stronger 2 part calcium is 106,000ppm, Kent is 56,000ppm. This goes for most of there additives they are far more potent than Kent.

with all the new nanotanks tho wouldent it be better to have a more watered down product

it could easily be mixed with RO to dilute it, but wouldnt you rather get twice as much calcium for the same price?

I Think you should do whichever would make you the most money, but if you are really concerned with your customers getting quality i would educate them first then sell them SeaChem.

Im not asking for sake of where my best margin is, Im asking for sake of "what do people want to see when they come in".

Id rather not stock both, so it was should I switch or not. (currently on Kent)
