Question Will my tank recycle if my power filter is removed?

I am adding a Remora protien skimmer and with the amount of live rock (85 lbs) I have i've been told I really dont need the Emperor power filter I have on it now. It does have the bio wheels on it. My question is will that cause my tank to recycle or is there enough bacteria on the rock?

58 gal, 1 sailfin tang and 1 Pseudochromis.

Hi Wes

To Reef Central

You can take it out without a problem. Most biowheel filters don't have that much surface area and ensuing biofilm on the wheel.
