couple questions..
ok.. i had a sabae clownfish that was in my tank for two months alone.. i decided it needed a mate. so i took the chance bought a small clown. they took to one another..but still haven't paired up.. ( no fighting between them) well to speed the process up i went ahead and bouhgt a sabae anemone for them. as soon as i placed the anemone in the water they both came running for it. well. now the big one won't let the small one in.. ( which i know this normal for pairin) my first question is.. should i buy another anemone for it to live in and if they pair they could host in two anmones or is that a bad idea? second..ive had my anemone now for a week. i am trying to feed it krill. needless to say i put the krill right over it's mouth to help it.. the clown comes and takes it away then brings it back to another place..( keeps repeatin the process. he allows other fish to come and take the food as well. anyone know what why hes doing this? third question.. should i worry about my anemone not gettin fed due to this process? the big clown stays in the anemone day and night but leaves every once in a while..

If you do not want another anemone you could try adding some soft coral like fuzzy mushroom, or frogspawn. I have two clownfish and both have taken to the coral. As far as the feeding goes i would try distracting the clownfish during feeding time and then try to feed the anemone. Or try feeding the anemone after the lights are out.

i don't know much about this subject but you could maybe try getting some sort of pole or something and drop it real close to it.

Are the 2 clownfish the same sp.? The larger one is female and could be perfectly normal....

sorry took so long to reply.. having internet issues--
yes the clowns are the same species. i might get another anemone but if i could get them to host together that would be great. i guess i need to wade it out more.. i noticed the big clown was actually takin the time to make sure the anemone got fed. so hes really expanded his tenicles even more.. |
