Revitalizing Seachems PurigenRevitalizing Seachems Purigen
So I follow the directions, more or less(I left it in the bleach for a couple days and then in the freshwater for a couple more, and have since left it out drying).
How safe is it to put it back in the tank? I’m not sure if its me but it seems like it has a funky, bleach-ish after smell…. I also left it in a fine mesh bag(but I cant remember if the bag is bleach safe) How fool proof is this process? |

Did you follow the bleach and prime dosing? Did you use prime or another dechlorinator? If it has a bleachy smell, put it back in the prime/water solution for another day or two and let dry.

If it has a bleach smell, it means your dechlorinator either didn't work, or you didn't use enough of it. It shouldn't smell of bleach at all and you also shouldn't need to leave it in a bleach solution for more than a few hours. If worse comes to worse, buy a new bag as they're only about 7 dollars.
Do NOT put it into your tank if it smells like bleach. Bleach + ree tanks = very very bad news |
