how to maximize contact time in my skimmer?
I want to build a counter current skimmer for my 100 gallon tank. Although counter current skimmers are one of the most effective they have to be extremly tall to maximize contact time. An optimim size would be 6' tall and 8" diameter but as for height I can only fit 3 and a half feet under my stand. I remember reading a diy plan or some skimmer article a while back that talked about using multiple chambers to maximize contact time so instead of one 6' unit i would have two 3' chambers.
can anyone explain to me how i could do this (if i even can)? I'm nt talking about building 2 seperate skimmersbecuase that wouldnt solve my problem that would just gve me 2 skimmers with notenough contact time. what i need is to figure out some way to build divide the body of theskimmer in half so the bubblers from the airstone travel through two 3' chambers and then into one skimmate cup. all diy'ers/cc skimmer owners please help becuase right know i'm having a braincramp and cant figure out how to solve this problem. |
