Tornado from Powerheads

OK, I wanted surface agitation. I had two powerheads, one on each side of the tank, pointing upward. It's been doing wonders for my tank because I don't see any film forming and everyone seems to be healty and alive.

But then where these two opposing waterflows meet creates this whirl pool that split my live sand dead half.

Any options? I do want to keep the surface agitation however. I just don't like the splitting-my-sand-in-half situation. Thanks.

....maybe it's a sign....."My son, go bb, my son".

I placed my 2 powerheads in the center of the back glass, facing the front corners. It provides great water movement and surface agitation without moving the sand.
