Can you have to many stars and hermits

A friend of mine come back from spring breack not with beer or pic of crazy girl.

But a cooler full of critters.So I have around 300 or so hermits in my 250gal and about 13 serpent and brittle stars ranging in size from a quarter to about the size of a cd.

strange thing he didnt have a tank?so I didnt want it to die.

But can you have to many cleaner I dont think so but nice to know from others.

Also I thought you couldnt take things from the ocean with out a permit of some thing.
