6-lines. . .are they just stupid?

OK, I realize fish are working with pretty small brains, but are wrasses just a little dummer than the rest? If it weren't bad enough that mine has the habit of swimming into spaces it can't swim back out of (I've had to rescue him from the rockwork twice so far), mine doesn't seem to realize he is Not an anemonefish. He seems to have no fear whatsoever and is often seen swimming in and around the tentacles. I would think he'd have gotten stung on at least a few occasions, but he keeps doing it. Hopefully he doesn't end up as lunch someday. He's still a fairly small guy (not much bigger than 1"), and I don't think he'd have a really tough time fitting in the anemone's mouth.

my 6 line has never had that problem of getting stuck, though he sure tries to fit through the narrowest of spaces. I don't think you need to worry about the anemone, from what I've read they have a pretty thick slime coat, and are quite agile.

My 6 line is dumb as well. I have rescued him from the overflow box at least 3 times. And as soon as I put him back in the tank he is swimmign up and around the overflow again.

lol... you aren't rescuing your fish. wrasses often find "dartholes" where they go if they are stressed or if it's dark. they have been to known to be eaten alive by bristleworms because they refuse to come out of the hole once they are in it. they will come out on their own accord, otherwise wouldn't their species be extinct if they were so "stupid"? fish didn't evolve to be on display for humans

I know, I was just calling him dumb for the sake of this thread. I know that this behaviour is not a sign of an unitelligent fish.
And in a way we are rescuing the fish if he swims into an overflow box. He may have willingly gotten into it but He has no way to get out and would die in there without food so me removing him is rescuing him is it not? lol

Actually I read a post on here somewhere where they lost their colwnfish. Assumed it was dead and devoured by the clean-up crew, 7 months later, they found it alive and well in the overflow. so apparently enough food gets in there during feedings.

OK, so I didn't just pick the reject from the group. Also, the first time I rescued my little guy, I really do think he was stuck. He swam into a small winding hole in one of my rocks, and you could see that he had tried to turn around, because his body was bent in half and he was moving his fins, but not going anywhere. After a couple hours, I decided to intervene.
Well, I guess whatever he lacks in intelligence, he makes up for in looks. The really are beautiful fish.
