just make sure if you buy any ro it has a mixed bed dionization...my 2 stage will outperform any 5 stage unit availabe, beleive that...make sure its 1 micron or smaller filter and a mixed bed you will be more than fine, the salt we use has more chemicals and toxic metals in it then rusting aluminum in acid juice that sat for 3 yrs in the rain...heres a salt link

ok, i think the first two canisters has carbon filter pads in it wich is good for chlorine and chloramine, the last looks like a 5 micron wich is good for big particles before it reashes the 1 micron filter, the last stage looks like a carbon based mixed bed which doesnt have silicate or phosphate removal or heavy metal removal.....so it tells me that its good drinking water but in order to remove the heavy metals you will need a mixed bed for aquarium water, which is easy to replace....if i had that unit i would take the first 2 canister first one with 5 micron then the second with 1 micron then the 3rd with .001 micron then the last with a mixed silicate, phosphate and carbon deionization filter...but those filters will cost alot of money to replace maybe you can buy the filters new from your local pet store then maybe buy a 5 stage from ebay that needs new filters real cheap, i wish i would have done that....but thats your best bet for the best purified water....also if you can you can call your local water supply company and ask them for a copy of there tsting water this way you know excactly what filters would be best for your needs.....i beleive its all public knowledge so its no biggy getting that info
