lighting for a 72 bow front, please help
I have a 72 bow front with 4x110w of VHO lighting powered by an icecap 660 electronic ballast.
i want more light so i can keep more than just softies, can i use t5's with the 660 ballast? if so, how many? will it be less expensive than just switching to MH? will it be as good? please help. thanks, russ |

Are you looking to keep sps? Right now you have enough light to keep softies and lps. I personally wouldn't switch from VHO's to T5's. I just not a big enough upgrade for the cost. I would go MH if it were me. I have a 72 gl bow and run 2x250's and 2x39w T5 actinics and been very happy with this combo. My tank is SPS dominated, but I do have some zoas, ricordea, clams, and a few lps. All are doing very well under this lighting set up.

for t5ho, try www.aqualuxlighting.com
4x54 should light that tank well enough for a mix of everything, just not sps domonated... depending on bulb choice
