Exclamation change in cycle?

Things to know:
30 gal tank
about 25 pounds of live rock ( fiji fully cured )
coralife super skimmer
1 - sea med powerhead
heater
1 flourescent bulb 10,000k

about two or three weeks ago i added live rock to the tank, about a week ago i noticed hair algea begining to grow

yesterday i tested the water for the ph, trites, trates, and amonia. all levels were extremely close to perfect if not perfect, then i added some top off water ( i added about 3 gallons, i didn't have a chance to add any so it was a big top off job )

now most if not all of the hair algea is turning white/clear or just disapearing, also there is a lot of "unknown" "things" floating around in the water, looks like possibly pieces of hair algea

what has happened? i was going to add a clean up crew tomorrow but now i'm not sure if i should

i just remembered something that i did that may be causing this problem, while doing the top off i saw a lot of dried salt on the tubes from the skimmer, so i poured water from a bottle ( deer park i believe, to rinse the tubes down, in all about .5 FL OZ made it into the tank, could this be the reason the hair algea has drastically changed?

I wouldn't add any where near that amount of topoff water at one shot. The sudden salinity change might have killed a lot of organisms. In general, I wouldn't change the salinity more than 0.0005 units at a shot, and that's quite drastic by my standards. I'd suggest watching the ammonia level for a few days, to see if anything spikes.

For that size tank, I add more like a quart of water at a time, and usually my autotopoff does the job, which adds water a drop at a time.

Actually, it does save a lot of work. I dose calcium and alkalinity in the topoff.
